Boris Vukcevic’s condition has stabilized

The Hoffenheim midfielder remains in a coma, but his condition has stabilized.

While Boris Vukcevic remains in a coma at a Heidelberg University Hospital, his condition is no longer life-threatening and has stabilized according to his club. The Hoffenheim midfielder has been in a coma since suffering severe head trauma in a car accident back on September 28.

The Heidelberg Police and department of public prosecution released a joint statement that their investigation revealed that Vukcevic was suffering from low blood sugar at the time of the accident. During the accident, Vukcevic’s car slid across the centerline into the path of a large truck.

Hoffenheim’s manager Markus Babbel was thrilled with the news:

“We’re delighted for Boris and his family about the news. We’d all hoped and prayed he’d make it. We know there’s a long way to go yet, but this news gives us strength and will help us get through what is a difficult time. It will help us focus on our upcoming tasks in the Bundesliga.”
