Schalke vs. Wolfsburg: Final score 3-0, Schalke hammer Wolfsburg

Schalke win easily against Wolfsburg but remain seven points behind leaders Bayern.

Schalke picked up a big three points and doomed Wolfsburg to a place in the relegation zone with a 3-0 victory.

Jefferson Farfan, who had a big falling out with current Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath when he was the manager in Gelsenkirchen, opened the scoring for Schalke with an unmarked header on a cross by Christian Fuchs. Farfan made sure to let Magath know how excited he was scoring by celebrating in front of the Wolfsburg bench.

Ibrahim Afellay made it 2-0 a minute after halftime by scoring his first goal since joining Schalke. Lewis Holtby played Afellay in behind the Wolfsburg defense, and the Dutch midfielder easily slotted it past Diego Benaglio.

It was 3-0 in the 58th minute as Roman Neustädter opened his scoring account in a Schalke shirt. After a corner by Fuchs was cleared out to the top of the box, Afellay shot the ball at the goal. The ball deflected off of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and ended up at the feet of Neustädter. The midfielder gathered himself and beat Benaglio for the goal.

Huntelaar nearly made it 4-0 in the 64th minute, but his shot struck the post. Schalke limited Wolfsburg to just four shots in the second half. The best opportunity fell to Srdjan Lakic, but Lars Unnerstall made an excellent save to preserve the shutout.
