The Hurricanes don’t have Reggie Johnson, their star center, but they still dominated the Tar Heels on the glass and controlled the paint in the second half to close out North Carolina.
The story of the game was the Miami defense, or maybe the UNC offense. The Tar Heels led 32-30 at the half, but their offense fell apart in the second, as Roy Williams’ team was held to only five points in a decisive eight-minute stretch.
None of UNC's best players could consistently create a shot in the half-court. James McAdoo and Reggie Bullock combined to go 9-of-30.
Kenny Kadji, a 6'11, 240-pound senior big man who Jim Larranaga is using as a stretch 5, had 18 points and nine ebounds to help Miami grab a huge early road win in ACC play.
UNC is now 0-2 in conference, and the Tar Heels still have two games each against Duke and NC State.
