No. 4 Arizona vs. Oregon final score: Wildcats no longer unbeaten

A season of living dangerously for Sean Miller’s team came to an end in Eugene.

Arizona’s undefeated season has been hanging by a thread for awhile, as they’ve narrowly escaped in last-minute wins over Florida, San Diego State and Colorado in the last few weeks.

They almost pulled off another miraculous comeback on Thursday, but they ended up falling just short in a 70-66 loss at Oregon.

The Wildcats got out to a quick 11-2 start, but they weren’t ahead for long, and the Ducks went into halftime leading, 41-30. Oregon never relinquished their lead from there, although a series of late turnovers did make things interesting in the final moments.

The Ducks were paced by an excellent all-around game from senior F E.J. Singler, the younger brother of former Duke star Kyle Singler. He had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists on 4-9 shooting.

Mark Lyons, Nick Johnson and Solomon Hill combined for 49 points, but none of the other Wildcats could get much going offensively against a tough Oregon defense that was bolstered by a loud home crowd that stormed the court as the game ended.

The win gives the Ducks a huge resume boost and may help them reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years.
