Rotnei Clarke injury: Butler guard wheeled out on stretcher

Butler’s leading scorer, Rotnei Clarke, was wheeled off the court on a stretcher after taking a hard foul in the first half against Dayton on Saturday.

Butler Bulldogs guard Rotnei Clarke was taken out of the team's game against the Dayton Flyers on a stretcher after suffering an apparent stinger at the 8:13 mark in the first half.

Clarke was fouled hard by Dayton's Matt Derenbecker, and hit his upper body on the basket support. He was down for several minutes, according to Fox Sports Ohio's Zac Jackson, but was able to move his extremities the entire time. Clarke is being taken to a hospital for further evaluation, per a team spokesperson (via Jackson).

Clarke had five points, two assists and two steals at the time of the injury. Khyle Marshall replaced Clarke, and hit one of two free throws when play resumed.

In his senior season, Clarke is Butler’s leading scorer, averaging 17.0 points per game for the No. 14 Bulldogs (14-1). Clarke is in his first year with the program after transferring from Arkansas following his junior campaign.
