San Diego State vs. Southern Utah final score: Aztecs demolish Southern Utah, 76-39

San Diego State led by 30 at the half, cruising behind 16 points from Xavier Thames.

In an embarrassment worthy of the non-conference season, San Diego State wiped the floor with Southern Utah, 76-39. The Aztecs held the Thunderbirds to 11 first-half points, entering the break up 30. Four San Diego State players scored in double digits against one of the least impressive Division I teams.

Southern Utah shot just 28 percent for the game, hitting two field goals in the entire first half. San Diego State shot 50 percent on the day, including 41 percent from behind the three-point line. The Aztecs were led by Xavier Thames, who scored 16 points. Forward Josh Davis notched a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in the contest.

Trey Kennedy was the only Thunderbird player to reach double digits, scoring 10 points in the game.

San Diego State will have some challenges early in 2014, with visits to Colorado State and Kansas before Mountain West play begins.
