Ohio State vs. Maryland final score: Ross lifts Buckeyes over Maryland, 76-60

LaQuinton Ross’s big night gave Ohio State plenty of breathing room in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

LaQuinton Ross and his season-high 20 points were too much for the Maryland Terrapins on Wednesday night as they fell to No. 5 Ohio State, 76-60, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Ross made four of his six threes and Maryland could not keep up. The Terrapins were just 2-18 from three, though they did out-rebound the Buckeyes, 44-30.

Maryland hung tough through most of the first half, but a 7-0 run from the Buckeyes in the closing minutes put the home team in control. Ohio State led, 43-26, at halftime.

Sam Thompson had five of Ohio State's seven points in that stretch. He finished with 14, and Aaron Craft added 10 points, six assists and five steals to support Ross.

Charles Mitchell came off the bench for Maryland and contributed a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. But Jake Layman, who came into the game averaging 16.4 per contest, was held to just two points.
