Kansas vs. Colorado final score: Askia Booker’s buzzer-beater tops No. 6 Kansas, 75-72

The senior PG hit a shot that will live forever in Colorado basketball history.

After leading for most of the second half, Colorado allowed No. 6 Kansas to make a late comeback and tie the game 72-72. With three seconds left, Colorado coach Tad Boyle drew up a play for junior guard Askia Booker:

Colorado pulled off the upset, its first victory over Kansas in 19 tries, by dominating the glass to the tune of 15 offensive rebounds. The Buffaloes also made it to the free-throw line for 37 attempts, but converted only 22, allowing the Jayhawks to hang around.

Booker and Spencer Dinwiddie led Colorado with 15 points apiece, as their experience proved to be too much for the younger Kansas guards. Freshman point guard Frank Mason was making his first career start for Bill Self.

Andrew Wiggins led Kansas with 22, with most of his points coming in transition. When the Jayhawks were able to get in their sets, they had no trouble scoring against Buffaloes, shooting 53 percent from the field. Their 14 turnovers were their undoing, an Achilles heel that could rear its head later in the season.

The victory will move Colorado into the next AP poll, but the real value is the boost the win will give their resume in March.
