No. 1 Indiana vs. Illinois final score: Illini upset Hoosiers, 74-72

Yet another college basketball No. 1 succumbed to the upset bug. This time, it was the Indiana Hoosiers, who fell to Illinois in dramatic fashion on Thursday.

The Indiana Hoosiers became the latest top-ranked team to fall, losing to the Illinois Fighting Illini, 74-72, on Tyler Griffey's buzzer-beating layup.

For more on this game, head over to THE CHAMPAIGN ROOM.

Illinois senior guard D.J. Richardson was responsible for keeping his team in the game, scoring eight straight points during an 11-1 run by the Illini late in the second half to tie it at 70. After both teams scored on their next possessions, Richardson stole the ball from Indiana's Victor Oladipo and raced toward the basket, tossing up a runner that Oladipo blocked.

Less than a second remained on the clock, but that was enough for Griffey to get open on the inbound play and hit the game-winner.

Richardson finished with 23 points, while Brandon Paul added 21 for the Illini.

Will Sheehey came off the bench to score 13 points for the Hoosiers, who built a 12-point halftime lead by shooting 56 percent from the floor. Cody Zeller led Indiana with 14 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.
