The First Four round in Dayton is almost over and the La Salle Explorers hold a solid lead over the Boise State Broncos at halftime of their game Wednesday night, 35-27.
Boise State vs. La Salle: Explorers in control halfway through
The La Salle Explorers lost their only Atlantic 10 Tournament game, but came out shooting the ball well and are ahead of Boise State by eight at halftime.
The Explorers trailed just once at 5-4 and shot an impressive 58 percent for the half. Sam Mills hit three three-pointers in the first half and La Salle did not turn the ball over for the first 11 minutes of the game.
Mills leads La Salle with nine points. Ramon Galloway has seven and three assists. As a team, the Explorers were 5-12 from beyond the arc, which helped offset a 13-9 rebounding disadvantage.
Anthony Drmic paced the Broncos in the first half with 11 points and led a mini 10-4 spurt that helped close the gap from 14 points to a more manageable eight.
The winner of this game will be a 13-seed and will face the fourth-seeded Kansas State Wildcats on Friday in Kansas City, Mo. That game will tip at 3:10 p.m. ET and air on TruTV.
