The West Coast Conference tournament got under way on Wednesday, with Marymount defeating Portland to advance to Thursday’s second round. Now it will have to get through San Francisco to reach the quarterfinals. In the night’s other game, No. 6 seed San Diego faces seventh-seeded Pepperdine.
West Coast Conference Tournament 2013 schedule and bracket: 4 schools vie for berths in quarterfinals
The second round of the WCC tournament pits Loyola Marymount against San Francisco and San Diego against Pepperdine.
Both games will be televised by BYUtv (complete WCC bracket):
No. 9 Loyola Marymount vs. No. 5 San Francisco, 9 p.m. ET
No. 6 San Diego vs. No. 7 Pepperdine, 11:30 p.m. ET (approximately)
Any of those four teams would need to win the conference tournament to advance to the NCAA tournament; none has a shot from an at-large perspective.
In the quarterfinals, No. 4 seed Santa Clara will face the winner of the first game on Friday, and BYU awaits the winner of the second. Gonzaga and St. Mary’s finished the season first and second in league play, earning byes all the way into the semifinals on Saturday.
