Kevin Ware can dunk again

The NCAA needed to lower the rims for Kevin Ware to participate as Louisville cut down the nets after winning the NCAA Tournament. Now, he can get there with no help.

Ware didn’t play a minute in the NCAA Final Four, but might have had more name recognition than any player after his brutal injury served as the rallying cry for the eventual champion Louisville Cardinals. Ware’s courage was highlighted throughout the tournament as he urged his teammates to keep playing while his bone was jutting out of his skin on the floor in Indianapolis, So somehow, it isn’t surprising that he had the dedication to do something more athletic than I’ve ever done just six months after a horrific injury.

In July, coach Rick Pitino said he was encouraged by Ware’s rehab and that he expected him to be ready to play when the team began preseason work in October. Simply being able to dunk isn’t a sign that the 20-year-old has regained his full arsenal after becoming a rotation player as a backup guard, but it’s unbelievable that he’s done it so quickly nonetheless.
