College basketball scores roundup: Clemson stuns No. 16 Duke, 72-59

K.J. McDaniels dropped 24 for the Tigers as Clemson handed Duke their fourth loss of the season.

Clemson took advantage of their home court to down Duke in Littlejohn Coliseum Saturday, 72-59. K.J. McDaniels had 24 points for the Tigers, including 17 in the first half. Duke struggled to rebound with Clemson's bigs, being outboarded 48-30 overall and 14-8 on the offensive glass. Rodney Hood scored 20 for the Blue Devils, who suffered their fourth loss of the season.

No. 5 Michigan State 87, Minnesota 75

The Spartans needed overtime to dispatch Minnesota in the Breslin Center. The Gophers led most of the way, but Gary Harris and Keith Appling were too much in the final minutes and overtime. The backcourt mates combined for 43 points in the game, including 12 in the extra period. Andre Hollins led the charge for Minnesota, scoring 24 on 7-14 shooting.

No. 7 Baylor 88, TCU 62

Baylor blew past the Horned Frogs behind a career-high 23 points from Taurean Prince. The Bears’ winning margin was decided at the half, with Baylor heading into the break up 51-25. Rebounding was an issue for TCU against Baylor’s froncourt, as the Bears grabbed an otherworldly 24 offensive rebounds. TCU’s Brandon Parrish scored 16 in the losing effort.

No. 18 Kansas 86, No. 25 Kansas State 60

It was all freshmen as the Jayhawks pounded in-state rival Kansas State. Andrew Wiggins led Kansas in scoring with 22, with Wayne Selden, Jr., close behind with 20. Center Joel Embiid scored 11 and grabbed nine rebounds despite playing just 19 minutes due to foul trouble. The Jayhawks are now 2-0 in Big 12 play.

No. 21 Missouri 70, Auburn 68

Missouri escaped with a win over Auburn despite a huge mental mistake in the final seconds. Up two with five seconds remaining, Missouri forward Torren Jones rebounded an errant free throw from Chris Denson, but turned the ball over when he stepped on the baseline. Fortunately for Mizzou, Auburn was unable to lodge a final attempt, turning the ball over themselves to end the game. Jordan Clarkson led the way for Missouri with 20 points.

No. 24 Memphis 79, Temple 69

Memphis got a critical road win, riding Shaq Goodwin’s double-double to victory in Philadelphia. The sophomore scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Tigers in both categories. As a team, Memphis outclassed Temple on the glass, pulling down 45 rebounds to the Owls’ 28. Temple’s lone bright spot was their three-point shooting, hitting eight of 16 from deep.
