North Carolina fans ditch blue for green against Iowa

North Carolina fans attending Wednesday night’s Big Ten-ACC Challenge game against Iowa are being given green Tar Heel shirt made out of 85 percent recycled polyester and 15 percent cotton. The result is a Dean Dome that is noticeably lacking in the “Carolina blue” department.

The shirts are being provided by REPREVE, a company that turns recycled plastic bottles into yarn, and which is spearheading a “Turn it Green” campaign that UNC has adopted. The company says it took two plastic bottles to make each of the shirts handed out Wednesday night.
