College basketball schedule: Jayhawks visit Manhattan, take on Wildcats in Big 12 showdown

Kansas’ freshman look to win one in Manhattan as they take on the Wildcats.

The freshman-powered No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks visit Manhattan, Kan., to face the Kansas State Wildcats in the rival programs' second meeting of the season. Andrew Wiggins dominated the first game, scoring 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting, and the Jayhawks had no trouble rolling over Kansas State in a lopsided 86-60 victory.

Kansas State has gone 4-3 since losing to Kansas by falling in close games to Iowa and Texas, and suffering a double-digit loss to West Virginia. The Wildcats have gone 6-4 in Big 12 conference play and are currently in fifth place. Kansas is 9-1, though the team has struggled on the road through the year.

Kansas is 4-3 on the road while Kansas State is 11-1 at home, making it a great opportunity for both teams to make a statement. The Jayhawks could pull away from their road woes with a victory in Kansas State territory, while a victory over one of the nation’s top teams could vault the Wildcats back into top-25 status.

The game airs at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.

No. 16 Iowa St. vs. West Virginia, 7 p.m. ET, ESPNU

It’s a big day for the Big 12 with another conference game prior to the Kansas showdown in Manhattan. Melvin Ejim is coming off of a record-breaking game where he set a Big 12 mark with 48 points against TCU while also grabbing 18 rebounds.

West Virginia can pull ahead of the Cyclones conference record with a win and is coming off a loss to Kansas that snapped a three-game winning streak. ISU will be tasked with stopping WVU guard Juwan Staten, who is averaging 18 points, six rebounds and six assists per game and coming off a 22-point effort against the Jayhawks.

Maryland vs. No. 20 Virginia, 9 p.m. ET, ESPNU

Tony Bennett's Virginia Cavaliers enter Monday with a seven-game winning streak, having last lost in a game against Duke on Jan. 13. They're doing it with a defense that's allowing 54.6 points per game during that span, and the Terps will be hoping to break the trend of low-scoring games for Virginia's opponents. Through a 6-5 conference schedule, Maryland hasn't won without scoring at least 74 points.

The key matchup for the defenses will be between swingmen Malcolm Brogdon of Virginia and Dez Wells of Maryland, who are averaging 12.1 points and 15.8 points respectively.

The remaining schedule

Miami Hurricanes vs. Florida State Seminoles, ESPN (7 p.m. ET)
