San Diego State vs. Boise State: Aztecs survive on last-second three, 67-65

San Diego State preserved their unbeaten record in conference play, beating Boise State on a last-second three by Dwayne Polee II.

San Diego survived a tough road test in Idaho, rallying from 14 points down to beat Boise State, 67-65. Dwayne Polee II nailed a three with five seconds remaining to finish the furious comeback.

Aztec guard Xavier Thames took over the game in the second half, scoring 15 of his 23 points in the period to sink the Broncos. He also assisted on the game-winning basket, kicking to Polee after slashing to the hoop. Star forward Josh Davis was playing hurt, but still managed to shoot five of seven from the field for ten points.

Boise State got a stellar performance from its guards in the first 30 minutes of the game, with four backcourt members scoring in double digits. But as San Diego State’s defense got set in the home stretch, the Broncos went cold. At one point, Boise went over eight minutes without scoring a single point.

The Aztecs remain unbeaten in Mountain West play, having survived their toughest challenge of the season. Boise drops to 5-5 in the conference with the loss.
