College basketball schedule: Creighton, Villanova both in action Friday

The Big East takes center stage for college basketball on Friday, with two of the conference’s best hosting teams further down in the standings.

The class of the Big East will be on display Friday, with Creighton and Villanova hosting home games against DePaul and Seton Hall. One of the nation's top scorers -- Doug McDermott -- will try to add to his career total against the Blue Demons.

Creighton and Villanova are tied at 8-1 atop the conference standings. The Bluejays are looking to win their fourth straight, with their lone conference loss coming at Providence. McDermott is coming off a 39-point torching of St. Johns, and continues to make his case to win the Naismith and Wooden Awards. The game airs on FOX Sports 1 at 9 p.m. ET.

Villanova has also won four straight heading into the game against Seton Hall, their lone loss being to Creighton. The Wildcats have a balanced team, ranked in the Top 30 in both offense and defense by college basketball stat-guru Ken Pomeroy. JayVaughn Pinkston and James Bell are a dynamic duo, each scoring north of 14 points per game. The game airs at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
