Michigan State’s near late-game collapse almost killed Tom Izzo

Michigan State held a 11-point lead with under four minutes left against Indiana on Saturday afternoon in a game both teams had to have. Indiana would stage a come back to make things interesting, and the drama reached a new high when MSU wing Denzel Valentine fouled Indiana up two with just two seconds left. As you can see from the Vine above, Tom Izzo couldn’t believe it.

Fortunately for MSU, Yogi Ferrell would miss his second free throw so the Spartans were set to escape. All Michigan State really had to do was miss the second free throw with 0.5 seconds remaining and the game would have been over. When Melvin Clarke Jr. made the free throw, Izzo fell to his knees in disbelief.

This isn’t the first time this has happened.

Michigan State still won, but the important thing here is that Tom Izzo remains the best.
