Louisville upsets Virginia on late game-winner

The Cardinals got a game-winner from a surprising place.

Mangok Mathiang only made one shot on Saturday against No. 2 Virginia, but it was the biggest shot of the game. Just moments after Virginia took a 57-56 lead in the final seconds, Mathiang connected on his only shot of the contest to put the Cardinals up 58-57 with just two seconds left.

Mathiang hadn’t taken a shot since Feb. 28. He came wide open after Virginia trapped, and he buried the shot from the free throw line. Virginia threw the ensuing inbound pass out of bounds and Louisville held on for the win. It is Virginia’s first road loss of the season and just its second loss all year.
