Laquon Treadwell taking third visit to Ole Miss

The nation’s top receiver by the 247Sports composite rankings will make a third trip to Oxford on Saturday.

Forgive 2013 Crete (IL) Monee wide receiver Laquon Treadwell for not making it back to visit Ole Miss sooner. He was rather busy winning a state championship.

The long-awaited visit for Rebel fans will finally take place this weekend, Treadwell’s third trip to Oxford this fall after visiting in August and then taking in the Texas game in September.

His host for the trip will be emerging star Denzel Nkemdiche, a player Treadwell described on his Twitter account as a "STUD". The Illinois product had also hosted wide receivers coach Grand Heard and co-defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff on a recent home visit.

With a final five of Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Michigan, Oklahoma State, and Michigan, the Rebels appear to be in good shape, sitting atop Treadwell’s list, along with the Sooners. The Wolverines have faded since nearly securing the 6-3, 195-pound pass catcher’s commitment back during the summer.

The Spartan coaching staff has been doing yeoman’s work in recent weeks, visiting the campus of Monee several times, while Florida defensive line coach Bryant Young stopped by for a home visit on November 27th. Michigan also stopped by in recent days and extended an offer to teammate Nyles Morgan, a 2014 linebacker considered a consensus four-star prospect in the early going.

As for Ole Miss, though, if recruiting battles often come down to which schools can get prospects on campus the highest number of times, the Rebels are in excellent shape. Add in some positive recruiting momentum with superblue Robert Nkemdiche looking like he will join the fold soon and the positive impact of new coach Hugh Freeze on the field, it would hardly be a surprise to see Treadwell starring in Oxford next season.

While we’re here, let’s watch some of the many fine college football videos from SB Nation’s YouTube channel:
