Trae Elston Commits To Mississippi Over LSU, Oklahoma State

Trae Elston, a three-star safety in the Class of 2012 according to Rivals, has committed to Mississippi during ESPNU’s National Signing Day special.

Elston, a high school teammate of four-star linebacker Kwon Alexander, was considering LSU and Oklahoma State along with Ole Miss, but chose to go with the Rebels and Hugh Freeze’s new staff over the more established national powers. Elston cited feeling like family and the chance to change the culture in Oxford as parts of his decision, and unzipped a hoodie to reveal a Rebel red tie to announce it.

Elston is a big pick-up for Freeze, who will have to do a lot of work to build Ole Miss into a contender in the SEC West. But any time Mississippi can snag a player who was considering LSU, the Rebels will likely be happy with his commitment.
