Auburn Football Recruiting: Tigers Land Kozan And Multiple 2013 Commitments

Auburn’s great recruiting weekend extended into Monday.

Auburn football recruiting is already off to a great start for the class of 2013, but it turns out the Tigers were still not quite finished with the 2012 class. On Monday, Alex Kozan, an offensive guard from Castle Rock (Co.) Valor Christian committed to the Tigers.

Kozan waited to make his decision after taking his visits. He stands 6’4 and weights in at 295 pounds. Most recruiting services rate Kozan a four-star prospect and rank him among the top 20 guards nationally. Kozan’s commitment gives Auburn 21 signees in the 2012 class, including 12 consensus four-stars.

Auburn also had a good week for the 2013 class, as the Tigers hosted a junior day. According to Track ‘Em Tigers, SB Nation’s Auburn site, the response from the juniors was overwhelmingly positive, and the Tigers picked up a commitment from Earnest Robinson:

Four-star wide receiver Earnest Robinson from Pinson, Ala, got the day off to a fast start when he chose Auburn over Alabama, Florida State, Miami, LSU and Oregon. Robinson (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) credited Auburn assistant Trooper Taylor with getting him to commit.

”I really love Troop, says Robinson. “He’s like my family, like my dad. He’ll take care of me and be on me hard about my education.” Robinson says giving the news to Taylor and fellow assistant Tommy Thigpen was special.

“He (Taylor) was jumping around crazy,” he said. “Coach Thigpen picked me up. It was great.”

Auburn also secured a commitment from Kamryn Melton, a 5’10, 165 pound cornerback from Dothan (Al.) High School. Melton’s other offers aren’t impressive at the moment (Kentucky and UAB), but it is still quite early in the recruiting process, and coaches are still evaluating. Most recruiting services have not graded Melton, who told the Opelika Auburn News that Auburn felt like home.
