Jarrad Davis, a rising linebacker recruit, committed to the Auburn Tigers Saturday while visiting for the spring game. He told the AJC:
Auburn Football Recruiting: Linebacker Jarrad Davis Commits
“Today just felt like the right time to do it,” Davis told the AJC. “Last time I visited Auburn was a couple of weeks ago, and I almost committed then. Today, I felt like I needed to do it. It just felt right. I didn’t want to push the limit, so I decided to go ahead and do it.”
Two other rising seniors at Camden County, QB Brice Ramsey and WR-DB-RB JJ Green, have committed to UGA, while other one (OL JP Vonashek) may pledge to the Bulldogs any day. Davis had limited contact with UGA.
“The Georgia thing, it is what it is,” Davis said. “We’ll always talk and joke about it. They’ll say ‘You’ve got to come to UGA, you’ve got to come to UGA. That’s where you need to be.’
Davis is 6’2” and 210 pounds, and while he doesn’t carry a rating from the major recruiting services, he has something better: offers from both Auburn and Tennessee. Davis is an athletic kid with a good frame and should receive more interest shortly as he continues to mature. A good GPA doesn’t hurt, either.
Davis was the second commitment of the day for Auburn, joining fellow linebacker Cameron Toney. The Tigers now sit at eight commitments for the 2013 class.
