USC Coach Diagrams ‘I RT 17 Bronco’ In Letter To Recruit Laremy Tunsil

Laremy Tunsil, the nation's top offensive tackle recruit who plays for Lake City (Fla.) Columbia, holds offers from almost every school in the country. One of those schools is the USC Trojans. Southern Cal has been a factory for offensive linemen in recent years, and offensive line coach James Cregg is one reason why.

Recruiters have to get creative, and in a letter to Tunsil, Cregg did just that:

It’s standard practice for coaches to diagram plays featuring the recruit on his visit to the school, but this is the first instance I’ve seen of a coach drawing up a play featuring the recruit in a letter. In case you can’t make it out, the letter reads:

Laremy,

I RT 17 Bronco on one for the national championship in 2013!

Fight On: Coach Cregg

Tunsil’s position, number and assignment are showcased on this zone running play. The play is a staple in USC’s offense and is quite simple. But simple as it might be, it got the job done because Tunsil liked it, posting this to his Facebook:

“This is what you need/like to hear.”

Tunsil has not previously mentioned the USC Trojans as one of his top teams, but it’s still early in the process and this letter can’t hurt Southern Cal’s chances of getting in the race or landing a visit from him.
