Trevor Darling Showing He Is A Top 2014 Offensive Line Recruit

The offensive line contingent at the Jimbo Fisher Camp improved significantly Thursday with the addition of a few newcomers, the best of which is Trevor Darling, a 6'4, 316-pound guard recruit out of Miami (Fla.) Central High for the class of 2014. Darling committed to the Miami Hurricanes in early April. I caught up with Darling after the morning session as part of SB Nation's coverage of the Jimbo Fisher Camp.

“It’s been great,” Darling said of the camp. “I’m learning, we’re doing a lot,” he added.

One of the unique experiences of the camp is the opportunity to work with Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett. “He’s tough. He really teaches a lot and you know you have to work hard,” Darling said. When pressed for a specific teaching point Darling has picked up, he demonstrated how Trickett worked with his stance to improve his initial punch and route.

Darling wasn’t sure of what other offers he currently holds, referring me to his coach who handles his recruiting. But he did have a lot of good things to say about the Hurricanes.

“I just knew. I’ve always wanted to be a Hurricane. I knew it was right and I didn’t need to wait,” Darling said. “It’s everything. The city, the campus, coach Kehoe, the coaches, coach Golden, the team. It’s just right for me,” he added.

Darling still has room to fill out in the lower half and may shed a bit of bad weight as well as he continues to grow into his body.
