Linebacker Recruit Michael Deeb Considering His Options

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage brought a major contingent of players to Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher Camp Thursday. Among the new arrivals was linebacker Michael Deeb. Deeb immediately stood out, at 6’2 and 237 pounds, he is one of the bigger backer recruits camping this week.

Deeb was excited to come out with American Heritage and was happy that everyone was able to get exposure. "The competition and the one-on-ones was great. I enjoyed that," Deeb said.

One aspect of the camp is the ability to work a lot with Florida State linebackers coach Greg Hudson. “Coach Hudson gets after it. He brings a lot of intensity. I can relate to him really well, because he can relate to my style of play. He never ran a 4.4, but he does bring the size and the attitude. He’s a very physical guy and that’s the way I play the game,” Deeb said.

Deeb enjoyed the chance to go against some of the top competition in the state. He was challenged by tight end Jordan Davis, of Houston. And, he revealed, he enjoyed sitting back and watching some of the other linebackers attempt to cover teammate Sony Michel, against whom Deeb has the ‘pleasure’ of working against every day in practice. SB Nation will have more on Michel and his surprising decision to work out after ACL surgery Thursday night.

While he doesn’t want to name a top group of schools right now, Deeb does plan to take visits to Northwestern, Notre Dame and Miami. “I’ve been to UM, It’s right by my house, I know what they’re about. But I’ve never been to out-of-state campuses, so it will be an experience,” said Deeb, who carries a 3.7 GPA and has already achieved a qualifying test score.

Deeb does not hold an offer from any of the big three in Florida, though that could change. He does claim offers from Notre Dame and Northwestern.
