    Vonn Bell to Buckeyes

Highly rated safety Vonn Bell will play for the Ohio State Buckeyes, despite an earlier report that he’ll play for Tennessee. Bell chose the Bucks over Tennessee, Alabama and many others. The 6’0”, 190-pound Rossville (Ga.) Ridgeland High School product is rated as one of the top four safety prospects in the country, and is a consensus top 30 prospect in the 2013 recruiting class. As a senior, he recorded 136 tackles and three interceptions.

Bell is an explosive athlete, and uses his great speed to make a ton of plays from the safety position. He also has very good hands for a defensive back. He’s a bit undersized for a safety at this point, but will add some mass to his frame before long.

    Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE

They’ll be looking to sway several recruits that are currently uncommitted or committed elsewhere.

One such recruit is Vonn Bell, a consensus five-star safety from Rossville, Georgia and Ridgeland HIgh School. Bell recently visited Alabama and Ohio State, but Tennessee figures to be on the short list.

Tennessee will also look to convince Joshua Dobbs, a four-star pro-style quarterback from Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. Dobbs is currently committed to play for the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Will Vonn Bell end up at Tennessee?

    Bud Elliott (SB Nation)

“I think it was important for [Tennessee] to do that,” Mariakis said. “Mr. Bell said they talked more about Tennessee, their new philosophy and what they were bringing to the table more so than they talked about Vonn’s role in that. I think they’ll get to that this weekend when he takes an official visit.”

As Mariakis notes, Bell will take an official visit to Tennessee this weekend. He visited Alabama last weekend, and he was in Columbus to visit Ohio State the weekend of Jan. 11.

Defensive back prospect Vonn Bell is one of the top players at his position in the class of 2013, and he’s coming off a visit to Ohio State over the weekend. By every indication, that visit went well ($).

“I talked just now to (Vonn’s) dad,” Bell’s high school coach said. “His dad is going to come to the school tomorrow and fill me in on everything. But they said it was a great visit and they had a great time.”
