Mackensie Alexander not committed to Mississippi State Bulldogs

Mackensie Alexander appeared to have committed to Mississippi State Saturday, but the top cornerback recruit confirmed he had not yet chosen the Bulldogs.

Despite previous reports, elite cornerback recruit Mackensie Alexander is apparently not committed to Mississippi State. This, as of 4 p.m. Saturday.

First, many Mississippi State players reached out to a Twitter account supposedly belonging to Alexander, congratulating him on choosing the Bulldogs. However, the account was suspicious, as it was started Saturday just hours before players began interacting with it. When asked, Alexander said he had not yet committed to the Bulldogs.

Alexander would be a big get for Mississippi State: some services have him as a five-star, others as a four-star, but everybody agrees he’s one of the top cornerbacks in the country. For a team losing both of their starters at cornerback in Thorpe Award winner Johnthan Banks and Darius Slay, Alexander could make an immediate impact. The loss of MSU secondary coach Melvin Smith, now on Gus Malzahn’s staff at Auburn, could be an issue, although the team made a nice hire in former Pittsburgh Steeler Deshea Townsend.

When Alexander commits, he will likely do so with his brother, Mackenro, a three-star safety. Alexander is also considering Clemson and Texas A&M amongst others.
