4-star offensive tackle Evan Lisle signs with Ohio State

Evan Lisle will need to put on some weight, but he’s the top offensive line recruit in Ohio State’s recruiting class — and one of the top ten tackles in the nation.

Evan Lisle signed his national letter of intent Wednesday: the four-star lineman has been in the Ohio State Buckeyes’ fold for a while, and could be the first in the next generation of Ohio State linemen after he properly develops.

The Buckeyes were one of the first teams to offer Lisle, and as a Centerville, Ohio native, he pounced on it. He’s been committed to OSU since February of last year.

Lisle is a consensus four-star recruit, considered one of the top ten offensive tackle prospects in the country: Scout has him at No. 5, Rivals at No. 6, and ESPN at No. 8. Rivals considers him one of the top 100 recruits in the country, placing him at No. 90, while ESPN has him just outside of that parameter at No. 106. Here’s what SB Nation recruiting analyst Bud Elliott had to say about the Army All-American when he committed to Ohio State:

Lisle stands 6’6” and weighs 265 pounds. That makes him a bit of a developmental prospect, as he’ll need to add 30-40 pounds before playing in a college game for the Buckeyes... Lisle has a nice frame capable of adding the bulk discussed above. And as one might expect, he moves around very well, grabbing linebackers and safeties as he climbs to the second level.

Somewhat surprisingly, Lisle is one of just two offensive line recruits for the Buckeyes, alongside three-star recruit Timothy Gardner. The Buckeyes return four starters up front, so Lisle and Gardner will have time to develop. Urban Meyer is doing just fine for Ohio State in the recruiting department: SB Nation’s Michael Bird wrote about how the Buckeyes and their bitter rivals, Michigan, are head and shoulders above their Big Ten opponents in the recruiting game — and could stay there for some time.
