James Clark commits to Ohio State over Florida on National Signing Day

Four-star wide receiver speedster James Clark is another big late get for Urban Meyer, whose class now has 25 commits and is battling Michigan to be the best in the Big Ten.

Four-star wide receiver James Clark picked Ohio State over Florida and Clemson in a press conference at his high school on Wednesday, giving Urban Meyer’s class 25 commits.

The New Smyrna Beach, Fla., native was weighing four schools: Ohio State, Florida, Clemson, and Northwestern. He announced he was dropping the Wildcats over the weekend, and word was he wasn’t interested in Clemson. Many believed he was interested in staying in his home state, as Bud Elliott predicted he would do, but as signing day approached, it became clear he favored the Buckeyes. After the school landed four-star running back Dontre Wilson, Land-Grant Holy Land considered Clark one of Ohio State’s most important remaining targets coming into signing day.

Clark adds wide receiver depth to a class that already features four-star juco transfer Corey Smith. If all goes as planned, he’ll be catching passes from elite signal-caller J.T. Barrett for years to come. At 5’11, Clark’s greatest asset is his speed. He was recorded as running an unbelievable 4.39 40.
