Jermaine Grace commits to Miami over Louisville

Jermaine Grace, a linebacker prospect from Miramar High School (FL), committed to Miami over Louisville, among others. Grace made several trips to Miami during his recruitment -- more there than anywhere else -- and that ended up paying dividends for Al Golden and his staff.

Grace is ranked as the 37th-best outside linebacker prospect by 247Sports and the 58th-best prospect in the state of Florida. Rivals is more bullish on him, as they consider him the No. 17 player at his position and No. 32 player in Florida.

SB Nation’s State of The U thinks Grace could see the field early for Miami:

Grace is a kid from Miramar HS, where Tracy Howard and Malcolm Lewis played. He is an impact guy in his own right, and has a very good chance to start right away as well.

The Hurricanes could use a boost defensively in 2013. They finished this past season ranked 116th in total defense, and they gave up 30 points or more in eight games.

Ratings: Grace is considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports and a four-star prospect by Rivals.

Vitals: He is 6’1”, weighs 196 pounds and runs a 4.57 40.

Other offers: Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Texas, Nebraska

Recruitment timeline: Grace made several visits to Miami in 2012 and also camped at Tennessee. He took his official to Miami in early December, and he visited Tennessee and Louisville in January. Neither program managed to sway him away from the Hurricanes.
