Oklahoma looks like team to beat in battle for Ty Barrett

New Sooner quarterback pledge Justice Hansen is putting in some recruiting effort days after committing.

When Dallas (Texas) Skyline offensive tackle Ty Barrett showed up at the Dallas NFTC a week and a half ago, he was wearing an Oklahoma hat, a good sign for Sooners fans hoping to land the three-star prospect.

Then, just days after Edmond (Ok.) Sante Fe quarterback Justice Hansen pledged to head coach Bob Stoops and his staff at the spring game, the pro-style prospect put in some work on Twitter with Barrett, who had just picked up an offer from Mississippi State:

Whether that would be protecting his blindside or his frontside will depend on how Barrett progresses with his technique, but there’s no question that the Skyline product would provide a fine bookend for the much-needed Sooners quarterback commit.

So where do the Sooners stand with Barrett, besides in good position with his sartorial choices?

In the new 247Sports Crystall Ball predictions, National recruiting analyst Brian Perroni and Texas A&M Insider Taylor Hamm have both predicted that Barrett will eventually commit to the Sooners.

Don’t count out Texas Tech, though, which has been in hot pursuit of Barrett, who seemed to enjoy his Junior Day visit out to the South Plains -- new head coach Kliff Kingsbury has sparked some serious interest in his program out in Lubbock during his first few months on the job.
