Arrion Springs picks up long-awaited Oregon offer

Patience paid off for the four-star cornerback.

San Antonio (Texas) Roosevelt cornerback Arrion Springs has made it clear for some time that he was patiently waiting on an offer from the Oregon Ducks, a team that sat in a leadership position in his recruitment even before the coaching staff finally decided to extend it on Tuesday.

With the Miami Hurricanes falling out of the race for Springs, but likely to receive a summer visit from the 5'11, 195-pounder who could play virtually any position in the secondary in college, it now appears that it is only a matter of time before Springs ends his recruitment in favor of the Ducks.

A summer visit prior to his appearance at The Opening in Oregon in late June should seal the deal, but 247Sports reports that the consensus four-star prospect also intends to visit Miami ($) and the other school on his list, the Texas Longhorns, at some point after tripping to Eugene.

Those visits may end up being formalities and if Springs sees what he wants to see when he gets on campus at Oregon, it’s not hard to imagine a scenario in which he commits on the spot.

And it would seem that only cold feet about the distance from home could keep him from ending up as a Duck on Signing Day, but he has been adamant for at least a year that he’s ready to head out of state, so a late reversal seems unlikely.

Look through SB Nation’s many excellent college football blogs to find your team’s community.
