Dylan Sumner-Gardner talks The Opening, Texas A&M commitment

SB Nation Recruiting talked to with the four-star safety at The Opening, where Sumner-Gardner discussed his decision to commit to Texas A&M and his ability to deliver big hits.

Dylan Sumner-Gardner is one of the top ten safeties in the country, but as he told Wescott Eberts of SB Nation Recruiting, its his versatility and ability to play either cornerback or safety that makes the Texas A&M recruit an ideal recruit for the SEC.

Kevin Sumlin’s recruiting classes for the Aggies have been on some sort of steroids, and Sumner-Gardner is part of his 2014 group. He’s the No. 7 safety per 247’s composite, and the No. 10 player in Texas from the Class of 2014, with the Aggies reeling in more recruits in that top ten than any other school, in Texas or otherwise. He chose A&M over Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Baylor, and others.

The 6’1, 193-pound Texas A&M player for West Mesquite (Texas) talked about his big hit ability, the Nike gear he’s been able to pick up at The Opening, and why he chose the Aggies when Eberts interviewed him Tuesday at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. He thinks he can be a game-changer for the Aggies, and explains why.
