One of the top wide receivers in the country now has a top five, as Mount Pleasant (Texas) wide receiver Kd Cannon released his top five on Thursday via Twitter:

A consensus four-star prospect rated as one of the top five wide receivers in the country by the 247Sports composite rankings, the 6’0, 160-pound Cannon was a participant in The Opening this summer and sits at No. 38 nationally. A top-10 player in the state for 2014, notable programs like Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Texas were all officially eliminated with the release of Cannon’s top five.

Cannon listing Baylor first (though he did not specify that there was or was not an order) was hardly a surprise. At The Opening, he told SB Nation Recruiting that his mother fell in love with the school on her first visit there and Cannon has not only been a frequent visitor to Waco, but also showed up at multiple events during the spring and summer wearing Baylor gold and green. Then there’s his insistence that offensive fit will be the deciding factor in his decision, with a spread, up-tempo attack his favored approach.

In fact, Baylor is the overwhelming favorite to land his services based on industry predictions, too, which currently sit at 87% in favor of head coach Art Briles and his program. The elite deep threat has shot down speculation that one school stands above the others, but there’s a clear consensus developing that he’ll join the top Texas deep threat of 2013, Fort Worth product Robbie Rhodes, as a Baylor Bear.

Right now, every other school would seem to be playing catch up.
