Marshon Lattimore commits to the Ohio State Buckeyes

Lattimore is taking his talents to Columbus. One of the top defensive recruits in the country, he could see immediate playing time as a true freshman.

Marshon Lattimore, a top-50 prospect nationally and one of the top cornerbacks in the 2014 class, committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday.

Lattimore stands in at 6’0, 175 pounds and played his high school ball at Glenville High School in Cleveland. 247Sports ranks Lattimore as the 36th-best player in his class, the fifth-best cornerback and the top overall player from the state of Ohio.

Before his commitment, Lattimore was widely expected to select Ohio State. He received upwards of 20 offers from schools all over the country, including Alabama, Oregon and USC. He also took a visit to Georgia Tech in early December, though the Yellow Jackets didn’t appear to ever really get involved in his recruitment.

Here are highlights from Lattimore’s junior season (you’ll notice he played both ways at Glenville High, though most feel he will continue playing cornerback at the college level).

Lattimore will join high school teammate Erick Smith in Columbus after Smith committed to the Buckeyes earlier in the game. With the two additions, Ohio State now has 21 commits in the 2014 class. The group ranks No. 1 in the Big Ten according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings and behind Alabama for the top spot in the country.
