Smith checks in at a sturdy 6’1, 185 pounds, giving him some room to grow into his solid frame once he hits a college weight room. He is ranked by 24/7Sports’ composite rankings as the 11th-best safety recruit in his class, as well as the 146th best prospect overall. He is also listed as the No. 4 player from the state of Ohio this year.
Before his commitment, Lattimore was widely expected to select Ohio State. He received scholarship offers from schools primarily across Big Ten country, though he also took visits to Alabama and Georgia Tech towards the end of his senior season.
Here are some highlights of Smith in action as a junior at Glenville High. He is teammates with four-star cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who was also strongly considering the Buckeyes in his recruitment.
The Buckeyes class already ranks No. 1 in the Big Ten in the 247Sports Composite team rankings and No. 2 in the country. Smith is the 20th pledge in the class.
