5-star Dylan Moses makes surprise commitment to Alabama after weekend visit

That superstar recruit who famously had a bunch of big-time offers as a middle-schooler? He just picked one.

One of the most interesting recruiting process in the country — that of five-star linebacker Dylan Moses, 2017’s No. 4 recruit, per the 247Sports Composite — took an interesting turn on Sunday afternoon.

Moses, who held offers from LSU, Alabama, and Texas when he was still in middle school, verbally committed to Alabama following his visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend.

“Moses is one of the most hyped recruits in the class of 2017,” says SB Nation’s Bud Elliott. “While he may no longer be the 2017 class’ No. 1 prospect, as others have developed in recent years, Moses is still an elite player. He should continue to improve, as he is now focused solely on linebacker, instead of trying to also play running back as well.”

In early September, it was reported that Moses wouldn’t be committing until Dec. 15, and that he planned on visiting Ohio State for the Michigan game for his final official visit on Nov. 26. That all is seemingly up in the air now, with the surprise commitment following his weekend in Tuscaloosa.

The Baton Rouge native was verbally committed to LSU until August of last year, and opened his process from then on.

In January, Moses announced that he would be transferring from his Baton Rogue high school to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. for his senior season. Although many thought he would still wind up committing to LSU, his decision could potentially have something to do with LSU firing Les Miles last Sunday.

According to 247Sports, Alabama now has the No. 2 overall recruiting class for 2017 with Moses’ commitment.
