For the Gators it could mean a trip to the SEC Championship game, as a victory Saturday would all but clinch a share of the conference's East division, ostensibly accelerating the true arrival of second-year head coach Will Muschamp. The Gators have played in a league-best 10 conference title games, but have not marched to Atlanta since the Tim Tebow-era, when they were upended by the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2009.
On the other side of the football, South Carolina is dealing with a number of injuries to their star players. Most important is junior Marcus Lattimore. The former Heisman Trophy candidate is dealing with a bruised hip and did not practice Wednesday. Spurrier says it's unknown if Lattimore will be able to play on Saturday. If he cannot, backups Kenny Miles and Mike Davis would split the carries.
Expect the key matchup of Saturday’s game to be Gators running back Mike GIllislee vs. Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. Gillislee is the SEC’s rushing leader, while Clowney has 6.5 sacks on the season.
Game time, TV channel: 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS
