Marcus Lattimore injury update: South Carolina star expected to start against Vols

After being limited in a loss to the Florida Gators, South Carolina Gamecocks star running back Marcus Lattimore is expected to start this weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier expects star running back Marcus Lattimore to start this week when the Gamecocks take on the Tennessee Volunteers.

Lattimore was battling a hip injury all last week, and he received just three carries in South Carolina's disappointing 44-11 loss at the hands of the No. 2 Florida Gators. Spurrier decided it was best to hold Lattimore out once Florida had jumped out to a 21-3 lead midway through the second quarter.

With Lattimore out of the lineup, South Carolina could not get the run game going, rushing for only 36 yards on the day against a stout Florida defense.

Lattimore has been a scoring machine for South Carolina so far this season, scoring touchdowns in every single game except against Florida. He has 10 on the season and 597 yards on the ground. He has also caught 24 passes for 165 yards.

South Carolina fell to No. 13 in the BCS rankings after the loss.
