Boston College held on to defeat Maryland after the Terrapins’ second half comeback threatened the victory.

For Boston College, it is the first ACC win of the season and snaps a five-game losing streak.
The Eagles had been up for most of the game, but Maryland came back from trailing 13 points to take a short-lived advantage over Boston College. The first half belonged to the Eagles, who went into halftime with a 10-0 lead before a field goal in the third quarter put them up, 13-0.
The Terrapins responded with 17 unanswered points. Caleb Rowe found Stefon Diggs for a 66-yard touchdown pass. Maryland positioned itself for the fourth quarter comeback with a 10-point third.
Rowe and Nigel King capped a 13-play, 69-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown toss to give the Terrapins their first points of the game. Just before the third quarter ended, Brendan Magistro kicked a 28-yard field goal to trim Boston College's lead to three points.
That set everything up for Rowe’s second touchdown pass, which was also matched by a pair of interceptions. Maryland however, was unable to hold on. With the win, the Eagles improve to 1-5 in ACC action. The Terrapins drop to 2-2 in the ACC.
Box Score Hero: Even in a losing effort, the box score hero was Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs who appeared to score the game-winning touchdown before the later heroics of Boston College. Diggs had 12 catches for 156 yards and the TD.
Rankings Ramifications: Neither team was ranked coming in and it will likely stay that way.
But Did They Cover? Boston College came into this game as five-point favorites, but was fortunate win by three.
