    The play happened right in front of the Syracuse sideline, and Thomas was immediately attended to by the trainers. The Orange players instantly took a knee, surrounding their teammate.

    After being down on the field for a couple minutes, Thomas sat up and his concerned teammates quickly applauded, a signal to the crowd that Thomas appeared alert and mobile. Thomas got up shortly thereafter and walked to the sideline under his own power. He left the field and went to the locker room for further examination, and did not return in the final quarter as the Orange closed out the win over Pitt.

    Cuse holds on to beat Pitt in defensive struggle

    Syracuse picked up their second win of the season on Friday night, defeating Pittsburgh 14-13 in a defensive struggle. The Orange scored only one offensive touchdown but were able to hold on in the second half for the 1-point win.

    The Orange never gave the ball back, however, pounding the ball on the ground to run out the final five minutes and secure their first Big East win of the season.

    Famika Anae likely to retire from football

    Anae is a redshirt sophomore and he has already suffered ACL tears in both of his knees. He played as a backup in the 2011 season where he saw time in four games, and Anae was limited early in the season due to an achilles tendon injury. He did see time as a reserve in four of the five games this year.

    When Anae did make his first start against Hawaii last week, he was very excited about the chance, but now his career is likely over due to those multiple knee injuries.
