The BYU Cougars will be losing offensive lineman Famika Anae for Friday night's game against the Utah State Aggies. Anae has suffered multiple injuries to his knee and the effects of those cumulative injuries is more than likely ending his football career. In his place in the starting lineup on Friday night is going to be Solomone Kafu.
Famika Anae injury: BYU lineman expected to retire from football
BYU offensive lineman Framika Anae is expected to end his football career after suffering multiple knee injuries.
Anae is a redshirt sophomore and he has already suffered ACL tears in both of his knees. He played as a backup in the 2011 season where he saw time in four games, and Anae was limited early in the season due to an achilles tendon injury. He did see time as a reserve in four of the five games this year.
When Anae did make his first start against Hawaii last week, he was very excited about the chance, but now his career is likely over due to those multiple knee injuries.
Anae is the son of Robert Anae, who was the BYU offensive coordinator from 2005 to 2010.
