2012 bowl game bids: Air Force going to Armed Forces Bowl

Air Force will play in the Fort Worth, Texas bowl game for the fourth time in the past six seasons.

The Air Force Falcons accepted a bid to play in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, making them the third team of the year to go bowling. Air Force has to wait before learning who their opponent will be this year, but the other team will be from Conference USA. C-USA currently has three teams eligible for bowl play, but likely won't be able to fill all its spots.

Keep up on all of the bowl game bids with SB Nation's bowl game tracker.

The Armed Forces bowl kicks off on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11:45 a.m. ET at renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium and will be televised on ESPN.

After beating the Hawaii Rainbows on Friday night, the Air Force Falcons moved their season record to 6-5, making coach Troy Calhoun’s team bowl eligible for the sixth consecutive season. The Falcons will play in the Armed Forces Bowl for the fourth time in the past six years. In 2007, Cal beat Air Force in Fort Worth, and the Falcons went 1-1 against Houston in 2008 and 2009.
