TCU vs. Texas recaps: Horns, Frogs bloggers react to upset

The TCU Horned Frogs were able to upset the Texas Longhorns in their first Thanksgiving game since way back in 1928, stifling the Longhorns attack with a solid defensive performance. Ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball hit both teams, and the Frogs defense got a rhythm going in a way that the Longhorns defense couldn't seem to muster all game.

Texas blog Burnt Orange Nation lamented the team’s quarterback situation after the game; Texas is a team with two quarterbacks in rotation, neither of them looking like world-beaters this season:

"Twice Ash was replaced by Case McCoy, who managed to lead the sole touchdown drive on the night for the 'Horns. It was the same deal for Ash -- he simply didn't seem on the same page as his receivers as the Texas tackles did indeed struggle with pressure from the TCU defensive ends, resulting in deteriorating accuracy."

TCU blog Frogs O War naturally had a sunnier view of the game, pouring praise onto the defense, which has in recent weeks started to look like the old dominant defenses that led TCU to solid records year after year in the previous decade:

I’ll be looking forward to watching the game tape of this one, but here are some numbers for you to chew over.

Last time TCU beat UT in Austin: 1967
Total wins in Austin by TCU: 12, the most of any program
Yards per carry for TCU: 4.5
Yards per carry for UT: 2.6

That’s dominance. And ten members of this defense are coming back next year. I can’t wait.

Following the Horned Frogs’ win, TCU and Texas will finish their seasons against Oklahoma and Kansas State, respectively.
