Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss 2012 final score: Rebels win in 41-24 blowout

The Egg Bowl was no contest this year, as the Rebels crushed the Bulldogs on Saturday night.

The Mississippi Rebels needed a win to become bowl eligible and snap a three-game losing streak. They did so in big fashion, racking up 41 points and 527 yards in a rout over arch-rival Mississippi State.

Thanks to a huge day from Bo Wallace, Ole Miss had little trouble taking out the Bulldogs. Three turnovers by Mississippi State, including two interceptions from Tyler Russell, made a bad day for the Bulldogs even worse.

Though Wallace and Ole Miss struck first with a 25-yard touchdown pass, Mississippi State struck right back with a 100-yard kickoff return for a score by Jameon Lewis. The Bulldogs tacked on a second touchdown when Russell hit Chad Bumphis for a 42-yard score.

From there, though, it was all Ole Miss. outscoring Mississippi State 34-14 over the next three quarters. Wallace and Donte Moncrief made for an indomitable duo, connecting for three touchdowns, including back-to-back scores in the third quarter. The Bulldogs managed just 115 yards in the second half and tossed a pick that led to an Ole Miss touchdown.

Wallace finished 15-of-22 for 294 yards and five scores. Jeff Scott added 111 yards on 28 carries for Ole Miss, and Moncrief tore apart Mississippi State's secondary with seven catches for 171 yards. Russell struggled all day, completing 18-of-33 passes for 268 yards, with two interceptions. The Bulldogs managed just 29 yards on the ground, compared to Ole Miss' 233 yards.
