Brad Wing suspended: LSU star to miss bowl, could leave for NFL

The left-footed punter will miss the Tigers’ Dec. 31 Chick-fil-A Bowl game against Clemson, according to a report.

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

LSU punter Brad Wing will not play against Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31 after being suspended, according to a report from Jim Kleinpeter of The Times-Picayune. The suspension's for a failed drug test, according to Tiger Rag, which also reports Wing could now leave early for the NFL. If so, let's treasure this moment forever:

Tigers head coach Les Miles has been unavailable for comment so far.

Wing emerged as a force for LSU’s special teams unit in 2011 as a redshirt freshman, averaging 44.4 yards per punt and having 27 of his 57 punts downed inside of the 20-yard line. The 21-year-old carried his success from 2011 into 2012 and has had another strong season, averaging 44.8 yards per punt, with 21 of 59 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. Wing has also blasted 19 punts of 50 yards or longer, and has notched 17 fair catches and 10 touchbacks on the season.

With Wing out, the Australian-born punter will likely be replaced by fellow Australian, freshman Jamie Keehn. Here's a scouting profile on him by And The Valley Shook.
