2012 Sun Bowl: Georgia Tech without top tackler vs. USC

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets safety Isaiah Johnson will miss the Sun Bowl because of an injury. Who will the Yellow Jackets use to replace their leading tackler?

Scott Cunningham

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defense will be without their leading tackler in the 2012 Sun Bowl. Safety Isaiah Johnson is out of this game because of a lower extremity injury, according to a tweet by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

During the season, Johnson has recorded 87 total tackles -- 53 solo -- in 13 games. Johnson also recorded 4.5 tackles for loss in 2012 as well as a quarterback sack. He's broken up a pass, hurried the quarterback and forced a fumble. He also returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown against the BYU Cougars on Oct. 27. He had his busiest day tackling on Oct. 6 against the Clemson Tigers when he recorded 14 total tackles, 10 solo.

Chris Milton, Demond Smith and Jamal Golden will all rotate in place of Johnson. The Sun Bowl is scheduled for New Year's Eve in El Paso, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST and the game will be broadcast on CBS.
