Barry Alvarez could coach Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl
Barry Alvarez could add a fourth Rose Bowl victory to his Hall of Fame resume if he returns to coach the Badgers in place of Bret Bielema.

Bielema coached the Badgers to its third straight Rose Bowl appearance this season, but doesn’t figure to stick around to coach the team against Stanford on Jan. 1. Alvarez told the Wall Street Journal he hadn’t ruled out the possibility of being the man to fill Bielema’s shoes himself. He was just inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in New York on Tuesday, and told the WSJ he’d make his announcement on Thursday.
Alvarez could add a fourth Rose Bowl title to his resume. He led the Badgers to wins in the New Year’s Day classic three times (1993, ‘98 and ‘99) during his 16 years in charge of the program from 1990-2005. Alvarez picked Bielema as his replacement when he retired to take the AD job.
