Nick Saban has ‘forever closed door’ on NFL return

The Crimson Tide head coach says he won’t consider leaving Alabama for another shot at an NFL head coaching job.

During an interview on “Mike & Mike in the Morning” on Thursday, Alabama head coach Nick Saban once again addressed NFL rumors, saying he has “forever closed the door” on taking another head coaching job in the pros.

Saban spent two seasons as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins and had a 15-17 overall record. He left the franchise for Alabama following the 2006 season, which was Saban’s first losing season as a head coach. Since moving on to the Crimson Tide, Saban has helped to establish one of the most dominant programs in college football. Alabama won the BCS Championship for the third time in four seasons when it defeated Notre Dame on Jan. 7.

Saban has a 63-13 record since returning to the college ranks, and his success has led to rumors of a potential return to the NFL on a number of occasions. But as he told Mike & Mike, that door not only is closed, but “the damn hinges are worn out.”
